Woman Doesn’t Know She Has A Full Brother Until A DNA Test Changes Her Life

Her family history is a blank slate since she was adopted as an infant. She knows she was born in San Diego, California, but has no idea where her family came from.

Despite growing up in Idaho and becoming an attorney, Janice never forgot about her birth family. Thanks to 23andMe, she finally found out about her roots after 30 years of searching.

Janice still has family in San Diego. She has a full brother named David Aguirre, a local business owner whose parents never told him he had an older sister before Janice was adopted.

While David and Janice’s parents have passed away, a DNA test tells everything! A quick glance at a photo of Janice also revealed her lineage.

He said, “I could see my father in her. I could see my father’s eyes in her.”

David and Janice began exchanging texts and emails during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they did not speak on the phone or meet until 2023. According to David, he was waiting to hear her voice!

A grin spread across his face. “Last night, it felt like Christmas; it’s like Santa Claus is here!” he said.

As Janice rode down the escalator at the airport, David recognized her instantly. He couldn’t wait to hug her tightly.

The moment they looked at each other, it was clear they were brothers and sisters.

David told Janice, “You look just like your dad.”.

“I’m glad to see you,” Janice said happily. “You look just like me!”

They gathered some other family members for a big family dinner, and they’re grateful fate (and science!) brought them together after all these years.

We’re thankful to have each other,” Janice said. “We’ve lost quite a few siblings, and we’re grateful to have each other.”

Our hearts are full of joy for Janice and David, and we wish them many years of happiness together.
